"Scott Sisters to be Freed After 16 Years in Jail for $11 Robbery

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour has suspended the life sentences of a pair of African American sisters who had served 16 years in prison for taking part in an $11 armed robbery. For years civil rights advocates, including the NAACP, have called for the release Jamie and Gladys Scott, often known as just as the Scott Sisters. One of the sisters, 38-year-old Jamie Scott, is in need of a kidney transplant. Her sister Gladys Scott has agreed to donate one of her kidneys as a condition for her release from prison."

Is this a misnomer?  A politician with presidential aspiration would issue a pardon for not 1 but 2 prisoners with a double life sentence for armed robbery. Why now?  This advocacy has been non stop since 1998 for the State of Mississippi to correct this injustice.  But, now this born and bred Southern white man who desires to run against this nation's first black man finds love in his heart for these two innocent black women on evening of his candidacy. 

"The incarceration is no longer necessary for public safety or rehabilitation and Jamie Scott's medical condition creates a substantial cost to the state of Mississippi." Barbour said. 

Is this some slight of hand by a Master Trickster to misdirect the people attention now that he has come out in support for his hometown's terrorist organization: The White Citizen Council.

Should President Obama praise Micheal Vick, MVP candidate for his NFL play in winning the Championship in the Central Division and his selection to the Pro Bowl after being sentenced to prison for running an illegal dog fighting ring?  I think in order to answer the question you need to look at it in black and white terms.  

Young black males do not view dog fighting the same as whites do.  Its a whole different culture.  Blacks do not kiss their dogs in the mouth as you see whites during.  Micheal can do great work in the neighborhoods by sharing his enlightenment.

African America males are concentrated in prisons through out this country instead of colleges.  1 out of 12 prisoners is black when it is 1 out of 36 for Hispanic and 1 out of  87 for white.  Blacks are only 15% of the population in this country.  The solution to crime must not be lock them up and throw away the key, a one size fits all has destroy the black community and is is costing the taxpayers over 50 billion dollars a year for confinement.


The president was addressing a racial problem in this country when he called the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles to thank him for his compassion.  There are some people who do not want this black president to address racial problems in this country.  We saw it when he commented on the Cambridge Crisis and his thoughts on moving The  Mosque near ground zero. The president's comments caused all hell to break loose  in the political punditocracy.


 That call should have been placed.  The highest and best use of the president time is  utilized when it spotlights  problems in this country:  alternative energy and redemption are such.   The President of the United States of America calls a job creator and speaks with passion in thanking him for giving a felon a second chance to ply his craft.  That is the above and beyond what any ex-convict would think the President of the free world would do.  If it was all about alternative energy, its still well and good.


 America must find fuel sources other than fossil and find ways to punish other than prison.  We are running out of one and can not afford the other.

I say to all who is in authority and who are job creators go and do likewise.

Prisons are where you will find this country concentration of African America males.  1 out of 12 prisoners is black when it is 36 for Hispanic and 87 for white. This one size that fits all, lock them up and throw away the key, is costing the taxpayer over 50 billion dollars a year.

Two southern men of a certain age one is white and the other is black both are looking through a window after a violent rain storm, one saw stars and the other saw mud.

Harley Barbour, Governor of Mississippi, former Chairman of the Republican Governors, a 2012 presidential hopeful, and Valedictorian of his class at Yazoo, Mississippi High School, in 1964. The Weekly Standard profiled Mr. Barbour in its national magazine.  The Governor was asked was there violent in his school integration,

"You heard of the Citizens Councils? Up north they think it was like the KKK," Barbour said. "Where I come from it was an organization of town leaders. In Yazoo City they passed a resolution that said anybody who started a chapter of the Klan would get their ass run out oaf town. If you had a job, you'd lose it. If you had a store, they'd see nobody shopped there. We didn't have a problem with the Klan in Yazoo City."

The White Citizen Council was a terrorist organization.  Its birth place was in Mississippi, July 11, 1954.  It membership was make up of  plantation owners, bankers, lawyers, doctors, legislators, preachers, teachers and  merchants.  They were the 'white collar, Klan.  A lynching by a 'sheet wearing' white man or a 'white collar' white man either way the black man was dead.  They publicly said no violent but their action encouraged white violent against blacks.  No significant desegregation took place in Mississippi for 10 years after Brown v. Topeka.  The Supreme Court ruling that outlawed segregation in education.

John Dittmer, author of Local People: The struggle for civil right in Mississippi tells of 53 black parents who signed a petition to desegregate pubic schools in Yazoo, Mississippi.  The White Citizen Council brought ads in the local paper and listed their names.  Printed up placards and distributed the names around town even posted some in  cotton fields.  They lost their jobs, houses and were forced to move out of the town .

Any black man that sought to integrate or exercise his voting rights was terrorized by the White Citizen Council and ran out of town in Yazoo, Mississippi from 1954 to 1964.  Yet, the man who would be president in 2012 seeks to rewrite history.  Breded to this privilege can he be president to all?

I lived through it all and felt terrorized it was hell!

A New York Times/CBS News poll has introduced to America the Tea Party. We know how old its members are, if they are male or female if they are rich or poor dumb or stupid whether conservative or moderate. The only question remaining is does the membership gives allegiance to the president or not?

The face of the party is a white male over 45 years of age who is not dumb or stupid but is more wealthier and better educated than average. The party is not all white there are a few blacks and others. My grandfather would say there will always be blind opportunistic members in the race who can not find their way out of a paper bag but they serve a purpose.

From the out side looking in it appears the Democrats are betting the farm on the 'why now' question. Why now? You never opened your mouth when Bush gave away tax cuts to the wealthier members in society while borrowing from China to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan. Why now? You did not protest when Bush did not protect the people of main street from the greed and selfish people of wall street who stole our future. You did not stop him when he took away our freedom with his so called Patriot Act.

The real hypocrisy of the economic conservatism practice by this movement is it doesn't apply the same measure stick to the local and state governments as they do to the federal government. The municipal government of most cities in America, USA need this 'over sight' that this economic conservative ideology is bringing to the federal level. Don't spend what you don't have and live within your means. All politics is local.

This ideological purity needs to be applied to the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The city has mismanaged it finances and tax base it has a 35 million dollars deficit. The city council is spending money it doesn't have on a street car that goes no where.

If this vitroil is directed at the Obama's Administration only and not at principle then this is troubling and you must accept the conservatives as have contempt for the man and his policies. The conservative movement was resurrected after the 2008 Presidential Election around the idea 'he is different from us. Thus, he was said to be a muslim, a foreigner, a socialist, a nazi, and the latest falsehood, a gangsta. Brack Hussein Obama is a black educated family man who confesses Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He is the 44th President of the United States of America, period.

The voices from the membership do not connect the dots to the reality of their individuality. 95% of them got a tax cut. 47% of their poorer relatives did not pay any federal tax at all. And 52% feels the taxes they pay were 'fair'. They feel Medicare and Social Security are a good buy.

It has not dawn on the Democratic Party and the media that the conservative voters are feed up, enough is enough. They do not see the clear and present danger in the Tea Party anti-government and anti-establishment rhetoric as it peel off a sizable number of democrats and independents. Under such a political alignment this will be a one-term presidency.

I've been told the only thing you have to do in this country is to die and pay taxes and deal with the politics which comes between taxes and death.

Yesterday was Tax Day.  The television is on MSNBC and the Tea Baggers are on the stage and politics are on the agenda.

How can it be that all working Americans got a tax cut and yet the people are cheering when the politician tells them if you believe you got a tax cut under this administration then you must also believe we have free health care in this country.  "Today you pay your taxes but 47% of the workers do not pay federal taxes."  Who is leading these people?  A New York Times Poll tells us who they are but not who is leading them. As if on cue, Rachel Maddow on the Rachel Maddow's Show  pointed us to Google Search.  There we found the culprit an  old enemy that destroy my little hometown. in Fordyce, Arkansas: David and Charles Koch.

This rant is led by a super conservative group called American For Prosperity it is a grass root organization that is committed to engaging citizen in the name of limited government. The AFP offers training to not only educate citizens about economic policy, but also , to mobilize those citizens to become advocates in the public policy process.

American For Prosperity was founded by David Koch. David Koch and his brother Charles Koch own Koch Industries. The family's fortune is managed by the Koch Family Foundations. Koch Family Foundations funds American For Prosperity. Koch Industries is a 100 billion dollar company, the second largest privately held company in the world according to Forbes, the company is the largest privately own energy company. Koch Industries is gearing up for the cap and trade battle in Congress next year.

These two brothers killed my hometown of 4,230 in the south central region of Arkansas when it closed its Georgia-Pacific plant and lay-off almost all of it workers in Fordyce, Arkansas last October.  The company founded a 'limited government' governing the city and left the workers with unemployment checks and until the benefits run out or the benefits are held up by a Republican, whichever comes first.

What does this mandated day mean to me?  Get my taxes in the mail before midnight.  Should have done this before now. I got a refund coming. The time line was used as a saving plan to keep the money out of my hands as long as I could.

(The phone rings)

"His funeral is 2 pm Saturday".

"Damn!, another hustling partner bites the dust as well as another small town falls because of the greed and selfish ways of a big heartless corporation".

On this Tax Day, when you hear the vile lies told by the white elite, in the market place, against President Obama, it frightens me,  When I think of the death of this old man that I shared a birth year with, he was once young as me, that unnerves me. 

If the Republicans do not get back in office in the next voting cycle, I am afraid this country is going to caught hell. Most of the polls show whites believe blacks more than whites are benefiting from the president's rising tide lifts all boat approach to being a president for all of the people.

Fort Worth City Council at it Tuesday's night meeting voted for a street car.  Dallas has a street car now Fort Worth has a street car.  The body politic of Fort Worth is to keep our city's governance on the down low and stay out of Dallas' rear view. The agony of defeat motivated Mayor Micheal J. Moncrief to lead his team to victory.

Three little pigs went to Washington, D.C., in February of last year, two came back with the bacon. The Politicians of Dallas and New Orleans.' brought home the pork and Fort Worth's politicians did not. Mayor Mike and his young prodigy, Councilman Joel Burns, his district will get the street car that goes no where but downtown, leaded the charge.  They founded earmark money at the North Central Council of Governments in North Texas to start phase one or a three phase project.

The victory was reluctantly praised by all. Councilman Zimmerman did mused, "would you enjoy the ride if the cost was $10".  Clearly, the street car supporters were more stylate in their presentation. They created inside of the chamber a sunflower of yellowness. So Texas! No one spoke against the street car. One speaker did not know whether he was 'for or against', he favored a project called Tower 55.  He was reassured by the mayor and his council representative, Ms.Hicks that the city was doing both. That made the street car a slam dunk!

The gentleman came from the council meeting shaking his head but with a better understanding for the disaffection that is pontificated in the activist's song: stop spending and balance the budget and listen to me. So not going  to happen.

The city's philosophy is if this city does not consume the pork another city will and that city is not going to give you a piece of the meat from the bone.

The City of Fort Worth is broke! The mayor has mismanaged the budget! The city sits on top of a gas rich geological formation known as the Barnett Shale. Barnett Shale has been and still is a source of revenue for the city's coffer ten of millions have been given. Under the Micheal J. Moncrief's regime he has give away the store with his tax deferred schemes to his rich friends and the city now has a 35 million dollars deficits and the highest property tax rate of any major city in North Texas. No more tax increase for Fort Worth. Mr. Moncrief has maxed out the city.

The city is seeking stimulus dollars, 1.9 million, to spend for a street car feasible study that could have a price tag of 200 million if it come to past. A Street Car To No Where that loops downtown. Great if you live, work, or have investments in the downtown area nothing for you if you live elsewhere other than the aesthetics. This regime has laid off city workers one day a week. The City of Fort Worth can not afford to pay them and honor the sweetheart labor deals it has with the police and fire departments. The fire department's new deal is on the table now for over 12 million. Good luck with that.

Lest we not be fair we must acknowledge this administration has presided during a time of extreme economics difficulty when tax cuts were given to the rich while the country was fighting two wars on credit with China as the underwriter. The greed and the selfish nature of corporations drove this economy to the brink of disaster. Thus, the stimulus. Obama to the rescue.

You have to contribute the failure to a lack of leadership by the mayor when the 'team' did not bring home the bacon when the Department of Transportation said no to their 'packaging'. The truth of the matter is it looks as if the administration attempted a 'slight of hand' to get money for the city's pet project, Trinity Vision. Trying to be 'slick' may have sunken their chances to get funding for Tower 55. There is competition for these stimulus dollars that the GOP say will break the bank.

You would think a man with his experience in business and government would have read the tea leaves better, if not, what is the benefit of such pedigree. I voted for Mike Moncrief for mayor on May 3, 2003 because I believed he could get the trash picked up and to bring to my community a economics empowerment that would connects the community to the city's overall vision.

Micheal Schnurman a Fort Worth Star-Telegram writer set forth in his Sunday's column two projects the city is attempting to bring on board, the Street Car To No Where and Tower 55. The way Obama has structured the grant (density and connectivity) Tower 55 in a better bet and fit for my neighborhood. The railroad tracks are there put in some train stops and you open up the neighborhoods for our youth to find employment in Grapevine and the Airport. Young people in my neighborhood have the highest employment in the nation, Mr. Mayor.

Cowtown's politics is Texas' politics and you can not have Texas' politics without a little BS.

"Elect Republicans and we will repeal the Health Care Reform bill", cried the Party of No. The unlearn and well to do will put dollars in the pocket of these politicians who runs on the slogan 'repeal health care' because it sound like a doable deal. To repeal health care reform in America, the GOP will need to have 67 senators out of 100 to pass such a bill over the president's signature. No way. No how.

"Re-elect Rick Perry Governor of Texas and he will excise our state rights and secede us from the union. We the People of Texas are tried of the federal government imposing unfunded mandates on the individuals and small businesses of the state", is the rant and ravings of the Tea Party. Oh there is a way to secede but not as 1 state but 5. What part do you want to be a part of? what say you Rick?

Not to be out done the Attorney Generals of Texas, Greg Abbott, along with 13 other Attorney Generals of other states are filing frivolous lawsuits that will waste the courts time and the taxpayer dollars. If it has to do with commerce across state lines and the general health and welfare of the citizenry, the Supreme Court has ruled. Case closed.

The BS is going to get deep in this fall election when Texas elect its next governor. See Rick run away from his record. The longest sitting governor in its history. Education is underfunded. Highways improvement have not kept up with development of bedroom communities and the state will have a 12 billion dollar deficit. Rick Perry has been in office for 10 years guess who he is going to blame for Texas shortcomings. That is right: the federal government.
